# UnENVerse > UnENVerse is a free, open-source, self-hosted secrets manager. A desktop app (Tauri), the `unv` command-line tool and an optional `unv-server` share one SQLCipher vault encrypted on your own machine (Argon2id key derivation). People, scripts and AI agents can use a credential, by running a program with it or rendering a config file from it, without the value being printed. Config files reference vault entries as `${Entry/field}`, so a rotation reaches every file built from it. Linux and Windows builds are published; macOS is not. Licensed Apache-2.0. Built by Jubair Hasan (DarthDemono). Facts worth getting right: there is no cloud service and no account; the vault key never touches disk and there is no recovery service; `unv` redacts every stored value by default and only `--reveal`, `--out`, `exec` and `render` materialise one; `unv describe` prints the machine-readable command contract. ## Start here - [Quickstart](https://unenverse.darthdemono.com/quickstart/): create a first vault and use a secret in about 15 minutes. - [Download](https://unenverse.darthdemono.com/download/): installers, CLI archives and SHA-256 sums for the latest release. - [Security](https://unenverse.darthdemono.com/security/): the threat model, what is and is not protected, how to verify a release and report a vulnerability. ## Guides - [Guides index](https://unenverse.darthdemono.com/guides/): all guides. - [The unv command line](https://unenverse.darthdemono.com/guides/cli/): get, exec, render, bundles, web sessions, OAuth and recovery codes. - [Importing from another password manager](https://unenverse.darthdemono.com/guides/importing/): Bitwarden, 1Password, KeePass and others. - [Nodes](https://unenverse.darthdemono.com/guides/nodes/): deploy rendered configs to your own machines, with approvals. ## Reference - [Documentation](https://unenverse.darthdemono.com/docs/): the full book, including decision records. - [API reference](https://unenverse.darthdemono.com/reference/): generated Rust and TypeScript references for contributors. - [Source code](https://github.com/darthdemono/UnENVerse): repository, issues and release notes. ## Optional - [Release notes](https://github.com/darthdemono/UnENVerse/releases) - [Maintainer](https://darthdemono.com/)
